I started making furniture as I began to collect and read old books.  As the collection grew, so did the need for bookcases.  What I saw in stores, was not acceptatble and too generic. So I did my homework, and began to buy tools and teach myself to build good furniture.

I build book cases, cabinets, work benches, desks, and am working on a design for both a country table and a couch I saw in a saddle shop. I build  out of hardwoods only, I do not use any plywoods or veneers.  You get solid wood in all parts of anything I build.  I will  always  look for small burls, blemishes  that do not subtract from the project in any structural way, but adds that depth of character  in the wood and the project,so yours will always be a one of a kind..

I am really in love with  the textures, and aesthetics of wood.  its little blemishes show us that it has survived the storms, fires, attacks from insects over the course of its history, and I strive to bring out this beauty in each project I make.  No two pieces will ever be exactly the same.

In this gallery I display several bookcases. I have kept the reddish corner bookcase, it is made from Lyptus, and Australian hardwood that has the color of redwood but is very hard, and very stable.  also very expensive. The cabinet for the tea cups is Black Walnut  with a unique key lock holder to lock it in place  on the wall.

The benches in the bottom pictures are the last garage woorkshop i built a few yrs back. The bench top is 16' long 30" wide maple with  a live front edge.. it is really beautiful for a workbench top, but I loved making it.  The lower cabinets have drawers on 100lb rated full extension slides so when you pull them out  you can easily get to the back of the drawer.  I did build all of the cabinetry in the garage pictures myself.   Please zoom in on the door pulls, I created them as well

I have built entertainment cabinets, and built ins furniture for homes as well .  I have timber framed a patio cover as well as timber framed sign posts, which are held together solely by wooden pegs and japanese type joinery..

Soon I hope to be able to add  hand squared timbers and more timber  framing, as well as hand made squared gates for ranches.   And  I am also going to add hand forging metal projects  and hardware for the gates.

The dog bed was for a friend who saw an advertised bed for almost $200.00  we made it for $29.00 a box of nice wood screw, and a half a can of Danish oil.

Later this summer, I hope to build a book case for a 4yr girl, I am currently working on a wall hanging night light for an 8 yr old daughter of a friend.I  will post these in a new gallery called current projects.

i'm starting  a new ranch sign for a ranch in Escalon Ca soon.
